Jesus never changes

Hebrews 13:8 - "Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever" or as the Amplified translation reads: "Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages)."

Until recently I had no idea how powerful these words really are until I began to notice something very unique about humans. People change. That is not a new concept to most people and it is commonly used throughout society, yet the depth of it in comparison to Jesus Christ is amazing. People are always changing. Rather it is for the better or for the worse, it makes no difference. There is always change happening. We are always climbing up the mountain or finding ourselves sliding down it. No matter how well you think you know someone, if you continue in communication with them for more than a short period time you will begin to see change happening in them and in their lives.

Now, this is all well and good you may say, but what does it have to do with Christ? Well... I will tell you. Christ never changes. Ever. He is perfect in every way. First, I want to point out that Christ cannot change because God Himself is not subject to the laws that govern time. His name is translated as "I Am" because He always is, was and is to come. Change cannot and does not exist for Him because change happens as a result of time passing. If time does not exist, how can you be more or less anything than you were the day before? Now, as far as God being perfect...perfect in the literal meaning of the word is defined as: excellent or complete beyond practical or theoretical improvement. There is nothing in God that could improve beyond perfect because that is definition of being beyond improvement. As a result there is also nothing bad in God because that would mean it would have yet to be perfected. So God is always static, always a constant, always the same. The same God you met when you accepted Christ into your life is the same God that will be there as you walk through the gates of Heaven.

Now you may begin to wonder, what difference does it make knowing this? All the difference in the world. Knowing that the same God who saw you in your sin is the same God who died for you on the cross. The same God who saw you when you were a liar, a thief, an adulteress, a murderer, a God-hater, is the same God that despite all that, in love, chose to die for you. It means that no matter what you did, do, or ever do you cannot change how God loves you. People change all the time, but God never does. If tomorrow you fail a trial or rise to the occasion, it makes no difference in how God feels about you. He is the one person you can always trust, love, and depend on, knowing that He loves you, believes in you, stands for you, and is never ashamed to be called your friend.

Portrait in Charcoal

This is another study done using charcoal. It took roughly 2 1/2 hours to complete.
I think this study turned out much better than the 1st one that was posted last night. Hopefully I will continue to improve like this. :D
Not much else to update for tonight...

Charcoal Portrait

I used Charcoal to create this picture and I am happy with how it turned out. I do not have much experience using charcoal, especially not in how I used it during the creation of this image. Smudging, using tissues, erasing, smudging more. It is completely different than normal graphite pencils. I am going to work some more with Charcoal in the coming weeks. :}

Brad and I are going to try out Calvary Church of Naperville this upcoming Sunday. (www.calvarynaperville.org). I am really excited about this church and I will post an entry about the church after we have visited. I hope this is where God is guiding us next.
